Don McLeish
Halicampus edmondsoni (Pietschmann, 1930)
Although this animal is pictured on p. 217 of my Ultimate Guide to Hawaiian Reef Fishes, the photo was taken in an aquarium. In July 2012 Don McLeish got what is probably the first series of pictures of this extremely rare pipefish in its natural habitat. See Don's website for more photos and even some video.
