Acotylean D
photos: Cory Pittman, Kapalua Bay, Maui. < 14 ft

Visually, this worm closely resembles that of Cotylean sp. 6 on the Newman & Cannon CD (photo number 3, closeup of head). "Body translucent, mottled white, light brown and olive green, sometimes forming an irregular median line. Light brown band behind and between the small marginal tentacles." The Hawaiian worm, however, has nuchal tentacles, not marginal tentacles, which would place it in the completely different suborder Acotylea.

The animal appears to be resting over (or depositing) its eggs.
