Acotylean I
photos: Cory Pittman, Maalaea Bay intertidal. 7 mm.
Cory Pittman found this worm in a patch of the endemic mussel Brachidontes
crebristriatus, with which it may be associated. It does not match
any of the animals pictured in Newman and Cannon.
The body is brownish-white with white reticulations and small spots
of a brighter white that become more distinct at the margin. There is
a patch of somewhat sparsely distributed eyespots between the two head
tentacles, narrower posteriorily and widening anteriorily to the width
of the tentacles.
