Pericelis 3
photos 1-2: "Richardson's" Hilo, Hawai`i. 50 ft. under rock
photo 3: Ralph Turre, Ulua Beach, Maui.
26 ft. in rubble. Size: about 1.5 in.

This closely matches "Pericelis sp. 3" on the Newman & Cannon CD. "Background body colour cream to light brown with light cream spots forming a reticulate pattern. Margin with smaller spots." The striking red coloration of photo 3 is probably due to food ingested by the worm. (In many flatworm species, the gut ramifies throughout the body.)

The CD gives the species' distribution as Australia, Guam, Japan, and the Marshall Islands.

More photos from Hawai`i are posted on Keoki Stender's website.
Additional photos from Kwajalein, taken by Scott Johnson. (Scott calls it "Pericelis sp. 1")
